Episode 2 - October 2025 - The Makumbeira Ballerina and Her Snake Plant
Welcome back, fancy people! I hope y'all enjoyed the first episode of Fancy As F**k, Not Afraid to Cut a B*tch! with Denise Tam, the Trollcunning witch and gong fu tea master from Hong Kong. If you missed it, you can find it in the Blog section.
Can you think of anyone who is fancier than a Makumba-practicing, shells-throwing, toxic plant-growing herbal witch who is also a professional ballerina?
I don't think so... That's why Debora Greer is the perfect guest for this episode of Fancy As F**k...
Debora was born and raised in Brazil in a family of Makumbeiros (practitioners of an Afro-Brazialian Spiritual Tradition). As a follower of Bantu and Yoruba philosophy of life and cosmology, she works with Ancestors and the Ancestors of the Spiritual System she is a part of, along with Orishas, Nkisis and other Spirit Allies. Debora is the founder of Moon Garden, a virtual community space for spiritual studies. When she is not doing tarot or cowrie shells reading or working magic for clients, Debora dances professionally as a ballerina.
Debora and I first met at the very first Botanica Obscura Conference (which is having its 5-year anniversary in 2026), where we were both presenters. I found out later that beside our shared love for witchy plants and magic, we are both ballet dancers! And we all know, despite their feminine and fancy image, ballerinas are total bad-asses!
For a chat series that was inspired by this meme, of course I had to invite Debora to be my guest.

With her fascinating upbringing and deep connection to her spiritual practice, Debora weaves a beautiful tale of her relationship with her "Fancy As F**k, Not Afraid to Cut a B*tch" plant ally.
(I apologize in advance that the audio quality is less than stellar, especial towards the end... One day when the time comes and resources available, I will invest in better recording equipment... Thank you for your understanding!)
