There are a few movies I love to watch over and over again, Chocolat is one of them… It’s one of my favorite witchy movies…
I loved the show from the first time I saw it, and after I started my witchy journey, I appreciate it even more…
It has always been billed as some kind of romantic dramedy, and sometimes a woman-empowerment inspirational movie (like so many in the Y2K era). But what I love and appreciate the most is the magical undercurrent that flows through the story. I feel that is also the most underappreciated part of the movie.
The movie showcased the magic of cacao before it became the “it” super food, and before its spiritual power became well-known to those outside of the indigenous tribes. It is quite ahead of its time.
I haven’t read the source novel by Joanne Harris yet, but I definitely plan on reading it and the rest in the series.
